The Tube Preamp Cookbook Allen Wright

The TPCB is entertaining, witty, informative, and above all, thought-provoking and inspiring, even if you don't plan on designing or building your own (or Allen's) tube preamp. The book helps all of us actively doing anything in audio focusing our minds on the task at hand. Recently I got a chance to read the 'SuperCables Cook Book' (3rd edition) by Allen Wright of Vacuum State Electronics and I thought I would share my findings. As the title implies, this is an instructional book on how to make various cables.

  1. This auction is for The Tube Preamp Cookbook by Allen Wright. Excellent condition. This book is full of Allen's personal anecdotes and describes the building blocks of hifi preamps, and the invention.
  2. It is a preamp designed by the late Allen Wright. I heard it many years ago at a small hifi show with some high efficiency speakers. The sound in that room was extremely good. The micro-dynamics and low level resolution in particular was exceptional. The person running the room switched it out for some other preamp and things degraded quite a bit.
